Dr. Elizabeth McLulan on April 17th, was the second guest speaker in aig+c's (Advanced Institute for Globalization & Culture) speakers series at Lakehead University.
Her talk, "The Shaman's Garden: Anishnaabe Traditions and the Roots of Morrisseau's Global Vision," discussed the roles Morrisseau played as an Aboriginal artist - as pioneer, as international artist, and as shaman. As one of the directors with the Norval Morrisseau Heritage Society and an independent writer/curator who worked with Morrisseau in the 1970s and 1980s, Dr. McLuhan is part of a team attempting to document and catalogue Morrisseau's enormous, and scattered, body of work.
